"KL Rahul became the second overseas batsmen to have two centuries in Centurion."

India KL Rahul

2023 has been a bit of a difficult year for Rahul as he received much criticism for his inconsistent performances. He was the opening batsmen in tests but wasn’t able to do quite well. Halfway through the Border-Gavaskar Trophy he was losing place in the side and after that it turned out that he lost his vice-captaincy as well. Although Rohit Sharma was taking his side and reminding the critics of his potential, the BCCI board took the decision to remove him from the post. But as Pandya got an ankle injury and was ruled out, the BCCI again appointed Rahul as the vice captain for the ongoing ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023. But all this now seems to be a thing of the past as he got to his eight Test hundred on the second day of Centurion Test his joy had no bounds. In an interview Rahul said that while recovering from his thigh surgery he had time to think about all the negative comments that he received earlier. He realised that the only way he can achieve success again was by remaining calm, working on himself and not letting things affect him. And on the first and second day of the Centurion his efforts paid off and he managed to score a second century in Centurion, one of the most difficult batting grounds around the world.
