Australia gained an important victory against Pakistan in the Boxing Day Test, sealing the three-match series 2-0 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Captain Pat Cummins performed a pivotal role, taking an outstanding five-wicket haul in each inning and completing with wonderful figures of 10/97.
In the second innings, chasing a goal of 317, Pakistan confronted a difficult project and became eventually bowled out for 237. Mitchell Starc additionally made a good-sized contribution with a 4-wicket haul. Shan Masood, Pakistan's captain, showed resilience with a quickfire 60, and Salman Ali Agha brought a valuable 50 to the scoreboard.
As the series approached a critical juncture on the fourth day, Cummins showcased his abilities with important wickets. Cummins persevered his stellar performance by way of taking the wicket of Aamer Jamal, leading to an extended play session. In this period, he secured his 5th wicket of the innings and an excellent 10th of the match, helping Australia wrap up the tail.
This victory marked Cummins' 2nd 10-wicket haul in his 57 test career and capped off a super year. As the Australian captain, he led his crew to success in the World Test Championship, secured a 50-overs World Cup triumph, and retained the Ashes in England.
Despite Australia setting a challenging target, Pakistan foremost frustrated the potent Australian attack with a series of partnerships. However, Cummins' exceptional bowling display ultimately proved to be the decisive factor, securing Australia's triumph in the Series.
