Shreyas Iyer, the Indian cricketer , is likely to represent Mumbai in the upcoming Ranji fixture match against Andhra that will take place from January 12-15 at Bandra Kurla Complex. Despite having the option to participate in the India A series against England Lions in Ahmedabad, Iyer has chosen to play in the Ranji Trophy to prepare for the upcoming Tests against England.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) selection committee gave Iyer the choice, and he informed the Mumbai Cricket Association of his decision on Tuesday. Consequently, he has been included in the squad for the second round of Ranji fixtures starting this Friday.

Having faced difficulties with the bat in the recent Test series in South Africa, Iyer is eager to regain form before the crucial five-Test series against England, beginning on January 25 in Hyderabad. Mumbai, missing Sarfaraz Khan and Shivam Dube due to their commitments with India A and the T20 team, will benefit from Iyer's presence.

Mumbai has had a strong start to their Ranji Trophy campaign, securing a comprehensive victory over Bihar and currently holding seven points. With Iyer strengthening Mumbai's middle-order, the team is well-positioned for success in this prestigious tournament.
