"Test Series Blow: Jadeja, Rahul Ruled Out"

India England KL Rahul Jadeja

India faced a setback ahead of the second Test in Visakhapatnam, with both Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul ruled out due to injuries. Jadeja sustained a hamstring injury during the fourth day of the Hyderabad opener while attempting a quick single and falling short due to a direct hit from Ben Stokes. Scans confirmed his unavailability for the upcoming game. Meanwhile, Rahul experienced right quadriceps pain, leading to his exclusion from the playing XI.

In response to these setbacks, the selection committee introduced Sarfaraz Khan, Saurabh Kumar, and Washington Sundar into the squad. All three players were part of the India A team in the ongoing series against England Lions. Sarfaraz Khan enters the squad on the back of an impressive 160-ball 161 in the second unofficial Test, showcasing excellent form. Saurabh Kumar contributed significantly to the home side's innings victory by taking a five-wicket haul in the second innings.

The revised India squad for the second Test includes Rohit Sharma (Captain), Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shreyas Iyer, KS Bharat (Wicketkeeper), Dhruv Jurel (Wicketkeeper), Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah (Vice-Captain), Avesh Khan, Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan, Washington Sundar, and Saurabh Kumar. This lineup aims to compensate for the absence of Jadeja and Rahul in the upcoming match.
