Chasing a target of 358, New Zealand struggled throughout their innings and were eventually all out for just 167.

The Kiwi batsmen faced a tough challenge as the South African bowlers maintained their line and length, consistently taking wickets. Only a few New Zealand batters managed to reach double-digit scores, with Glenn Phillips top-scoring at 60, followed by Will Young (33) and Daryl Mitchell (24).

The Proteas' bowling attack was led by Keshav Maharaj, who claimed 4 wickets, while Marco Jansen took 3, Gerald Coetzee secured 2, and Kagiso Rabada captured 1 wicket.

With this resounding victory over New Zealand, South Africa surged to the top of the ICC World Cup 2023 points table, boasting 12 points and an impressive Net Run Rate of +2.290. India is closely following in second place with the same points but a slightly lower Net Run Rate of +1.405.

On the other hand, New Zealand slipped to the fourth position with 8 points and a Net Run Rate of +0.484, while Australia currently holds the third position with 8 points and a Net Run Rate of +0.970.

In the earlier part of the day, South Africa's innings was marked by exceptional batting performances. Quinton de Kock and Rassie van der Dussen both notched centuries, propelling the team to a formidable total of 357/4 after 50 overs. David Miller added valuable runs to the total, and Aiden Markram concluded the innings with a massive six. On the bowling front, New Zealand's Trent Boult was economical, while Tim Southee managed to secure 2 crucial wickets, including the dismissal of Quinton de Kock. Rassie van der Dussen continued to anchor the innings and reached his second century of the ICC World Cup 2023.
